Join us for an experience like none other.
This is Camp, where memories are made, playing and learning are the same thing, we let loose, get a little dirty, use all our senses, develop our whole mind and experience childhood as it was meant to be!

Let's let our kids slow down and spend time off-screen, outside in nature. We strive to create an atmosphere that harkens back to old school neighbourhoods where kids played outside, with kids, taking risks, experimenting, building, getting a little dirty, learning about the natural world, connecting with each other and developing social skills.
School Break Spooky Season Camps
It's spooky season at Wild Acres! Come experience spider webs, build scarecrows, hang upside down like a bat, put your hands in gross slime, learn some magic, make a potion, carve a pumpkin, scare a counsellor and just be good old spooky!
Designed with nature themes in mind, each day of our October camps will be a stand lond day allowing you to choose to attend 1, 3 or 5 days. Bats, spiders, pumpkins, scarecrows, witches and wizards, ghosts and all things spooky,
with a focus on nature and not toooo scary!
About Wild Acres Camp
Born out of dreams and fairy dust... This camp has been in the plans for a very long time. Our Camp Director is a qualified elementary school teacher who has run large outdoor camps in Canada for over 10 years, having done 2 years of homeschooling (thanks COVID) she was just waiting for the right moment (in life and in motherhood) to take the leap and bring the international standard of summer day camping home here to Barbados! Our camp began in the summer of 2023 with a huge BANG! Interest was heavy for week 1 and registrations poured in faster than we thought possible, but the real proof was in the pudding when after our initial week, parents chose to sign up their campers for the following weeks and some for the rest of the summer. Our last 3 weeks of summer were full to the brim and by request we tacked on a bonus week!
With 2 kids of her own, and a niece and nephew, this camp is designed for the littles more than anything else. You can expect your child's needs, development and learning to be at the forefront of our planning and execution along with our own kids! Our activity leaders are teachers, mothers and experts in thier various fields. Along with the camp director the leaders help to mentor our counselors and counselors in training who are youth and young adults, showing exemplary promise in a relevant childcare or teaching field. Our site, Sion Hill Plantation, also our camp director's home, is ideally suited, with ample outdoor spaces, shady spots and breezes, a play garden, a veggie garden, campfire pit, fields and forests! As well as large indoor rooms and patios, for all the things we need a little more cover for. But let's not forget the pool! Fenced in, lifeguarded at all times, and an ideal depth and size for budding swimmers and confident little fishes alike.
We are here to have fun, build relationships, learn alongside your kids, get a little bit of paint, mud and glitter on us, and keep our fingers crossed that summer never comes to an end.

What does this look like to the campers? A party of course! There's no activity that involves using all of our senses at once than a party! So we will be partying the summer away through all of our weekly themes. A disco party, a paint party, a foam party and of course a birthday party among many others!

What does sensory education mean? We are looking at one sense every week and developing strategies to recognize, use, develop and learn through sensory experiences. We will be using our bodies in big and small ways, learning to regulate our senses when we feel overwhelmed, and developing some tertiary senses such as empathy. Following the lead of last years littlest campers our overarching motto at camp is "I'm helping my friends."

What does Skill Building look like at camp? Campers will have the opportunity to choose a challenging new activity to experience and develop skills through, (all age appropriately presented of course). We will set goals, learn to use real tools safely and level up as we come back each week! Our Swimming instruction will involve some new skill-building aspects. And last but not least, everyday skill building using our brains and hands to solve problems, read, write - all the core things we all know we need to practice during the summer! Expect your campers to come home with some well-deserved badges when they achieve new skills and our campers who are with us for the whole summer will have some opportunities to take part in awesome final projects, displays, entrepreneurial activities and much more! Of course, our skill-building is interest-based and camper-led, so the results will be unpredictably awesome!!

SWIM Instruction included
Our pool comes alive with the awesome swim instruction from Poseidon Aquatics. Swimming is an essential life skill that allows kids to develop through sensory learning which benefits them in a huge list of other endeavours. And, what is summer without swimming?
Randall from Poseidon Aquatics: I love the water and believe that it can open up an entire new world of exciting life long adventures and offers some of the most therapeutic environments and activities in the world. I strongly believe that swimming classes should be crazy fun but also super informative! I understand that water can be your worst enemy at times, leading us to prioritize safety. Swimming will not only be fun but kids will also have the opportunity to learn about water safety and learn skills that won't only benefit them, but others as well!
